Kevin McCarty of Delray Beach, Florida, was born
Lawrence Kevin McCarty on March 14, 1949 in Westfield,
Massachusetts. After a courageous battle with pancreatic
cancer, he peacefully passed away at home on August 5,
2018 with Mary, his wife of 38 years at his side.
Kevin attended the University of Florida and after
spending his early years in the entertainment and
restaurant business, he became a successful stockbroker
and public finance banker. He loved serving his
community. After being appointed to the Delray Beach
Housing Authority and Community Redevelopment Agency,
then Governor Jeb Bush appointed him to the South
Florida Water Management District board, where Kevin
served as its chair in 2005. Governor Charlie Crist then
appointed him to the board of Enterprise Florida |
He also enjoyed politics, serving as Palm Beach County
Republican State Committeeman for 12 years and as a delegate
to four Republican National Conventions. Kevin loved golf
and was a member at Delray Dunes Country Club and The
Seagate Golf and Country Club, and played many of the
world’s most prestigious courses. He was devoted to all
animals, especially his three Malteses. His kindness and
infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
Kevin was predeceased by his parents, Major Lawrence Henry
McCarty USAF, and Christine Raymond McCarty. He is survived
by his sister, Mary Conklin of Winsted, CT, and cousins
Christine and Paul McCarty of Jensen Beach, FL, Marie Stuart
of Vernon, CT, and Paul Raymond of Canterbury, NH.
