Memories of Wes Griffin

I knew Wes at Stranahan as a quiet soft spoken guy. To me he was always a nice guy. I ran into him many years later while teaching at the Police Academy. He was dressed in a Davie Motorcycle Officer’s uniform. I about fell over. Never would have expected that. I continued to see him from time to time over the years out there. I noticed some of the occupational physical hazards of the police lifestyle were taking its toll. Didn’t see him for a long time and then someone told me he had passed away because his health had failed him. Forever young.

Wes and I both went to Westside Elementary School where we both served on the Safety Patrol in sixth grade. I always knew he would make it into law enforcement.  He loved that police whistle!

Memories of Wes Griffin

Wes Griffin was one of the first boys I dated while in high school. He was a very gentle soft spoken young man and very much a gentleman. He took me to a Stranahan Football Game and we won that night! We went to Pizzio's, a very popular teen hangout, after the game. We talked about school and things we liked to do. At the end of the evening he said goodnight, no kiss, but he told me he had a nice time. I said likewise. Our one and only date. I have often thought about Wes through the years because he was one of the sweetest men and real regular guys that I had ever met. My Alohas to you Wes where ever you are.
